The Topcon SL-6E slit lamp features improved parallel optics and, with the optional photo attachment, is a true photo slit lamp. It is very compact, with an optical axis only 390mm above the table surface and a working distance form the 12.5X eyepiece to the patient’s eye of only 290mm.

Fast, one-handed control is possible with the free-floating joystick lever which is omni-directional. The firing button for the optional photo attachment is located on the top of the joystick lever. The camera body is mounted below the binocular microscope eyepieces so the attachment never gets in the way during biomicroscopy.

The unique flip-out beam splitter in the optical head can divert 70% of the available light to the camera body while 30% is used for observation. During routine clinical evaluations 100% of the available light is directed through the oculars.

The slit angle is continuously variable through 90o. Horizontal scanning rotates 180o, and it has slit inclination of 5o, 10o, 15o and 20o. It can use both the R900 and T900 tonometers. Its magnification ranges is 10X, 16X and 25.6X with the standard 12.5X eyepieces, and 16X, 25X and 40X magnifications are possible with the optional 20X eyepieces.
