The Haag-Streit 900 Slit Lamp offers unequaled luminosity and a really sharp slit, a single joystick for horizontal and vertical positioning, vertical, oblique and horizontal sections, and a microscope with a wide field of view.
Every part of this device is adjusted with ease. The slit width, the angle of pivot, and the angle of inclination of the light beam can be set with either the right or left hand by means of conveniently situated bi-manual controls at the base of the slit lamp arm. One Recoss disc limits the slit length by means of diaphragms and a second contains four light filters. They are protected from dust and can be readily operated from the exterior. A milled knob immediately below the Recoss disc control permits complete rotation of the slit from 0-180o infinitely variable. This feature is especially valuable fro gonioscopy and for examination of the fundus with a vertical, oblique or horizontal section.

An important property of the model 900 slit lamp is the ability to vary the angle of incidence of the horizontal slit, while the slit image remains in focus.
The bulb is held base up in a vertical position in order to preclude premature blackening and to assure optimum use of the light. The angle between the axis of the binocular microscope is 13o. Stereoscopic examination of the vitreous and the fundus under these conditions is excellent, even with relatively narrow pupils. The eye pieces can be independently focused and can be exchanged as readily as in ordinary microscopes.
